FAQ

What kind of aerosol paint is Samurai?

Samurai uses NC modified acrylic resin. This NC modified acrylic resin makes Samurai different from all the other brands in the market today and gives it strength in quality.

How long can I store the paints?

If unused, all Samurai paints can be stored for years without expiring. For Samurai 2K paints, once the chemicals have been mixed, the 2K01 top clear coat should be used within 4 hours, while the 2K04, 2K05 and 2K06 surfacers should be used within 24 hours. Other Samurai paints can be kept for years once used.

Is Samurai Paint product heat resistant?

Most Samurai Paint products can withstand temperatures of up to 190°C. Our hi-temp paint, however, can withstand a much higher temperature of approximately 600°C.

What is the difference between 1K and 2K?

1K is a term used to describe a coating that does not require a hardener, catalyst or activator. It describes single-component paints that dry or cure on their own, such as lacquer, enamel or auto touch-up spray can paints.

2K paints, on the other hand, describe a coating that needs to be mixed with hardener before being used or applied. A 1K coating hardens on its own, is less susceptible to damage from chemicals, moisture or UV rays, and is quicker to apply because the drying time is faster. It also does not require extra mixing before application compared with 2K.

In the end, 2K is more durable and is used especially for topcoats. With our convenient spray can system, buying the paint is not a problem. With the Samurai 2K Aerosol System, you can paint it like a pro.

What is the area that one 400ML can of Samurai paint cover?

One can may be able to cover between 1sqm and 3sqm of area. The difference depends on the skill of the painter, the number of layers, the thickness of each layer and the color selected. Lighter colors generally have lower opacity.

How many cans can I use to paint my motorcycle?

This depends on the motorcycle model and what parts are being painted. If painting the fairings only, for typical models such as XMAX, Raiders, Mlcg, etc., the estimated requirement would be 2–3 cans of 400ml paint. It will again depend on the skill of the painter. The more practice and experience the painter has, the less wastage there will be.

Can I use Samurai together with other brands?

We recommend that you do not use Samurai with other brands because Samurai's paint adhesion is stronger compared with other brands. If Samurai is used on top of other brands, there is a possibility that Samurai will affect the other brand's paint and result in what is called "biting."

Can I use Samurai on fiberglass and other materials that are not plastic or metal?

Yes, Samurai can be used on other materials such as fiberglass. You need to sand the surface, use 2K04 Surface Primer, apply the Samurai color and then use 2K01 Top Clear Coat for the best results.

Can I use Samurai to paint chrome-finished items?

Yes, Samurai can be used to paint chrome-finished items. Apply 2KPP Plastic Primer to the chrome-finished item, dry it under hot sun for 30–60 minutes, then sand it to P320 before applying the spray paint.

Can I use Samurai to paint on wood?

Samurai's formulation is specifically designed for use on motorcycles. We do not recommend it for other surfaces such as wooden furniture. To spray on wood, the wood must first be processed with wood putty or filler. Then you can follow the regular painting procedures.
