Samurai uses NC modified acrylic resin. This NC modified acrylic resin makes Samurai different from many other brands in the market today and gives it strength in quality.
If unused, all Samurai paints can be stored for years without being expired.
For Samurai 2K paints, once the chemicals have been mixed, the 2K01 top clear coat should be used within 4 hours, while the 2K04, 2K05 and 2K06 surfacers should be used within 24 hours.
Other Samurai paints, once used, can be kept for years.
Most Samurai Paint products can withstand up to 190°C temperature. The hi-temp paint can withstand a much higher temperature, approximately 600°C.
1K describes a coating that does not require a hardener, catalyst or activator. It is a single-component paint that dries or cures on its own.
2K describes a coating that needs to be mixed with a hardener before being used or applied.
A 1K coating hardens on its own and is quicker to apply because drying time is faster. It also does not require additional mixing. 2K is generally more durable and is especially used for topcoats. With the Samurai 2K Aerosol System, you can paint it like a pro.
One can may be able to cover between 1sqm – 3sqm. Coverage depends on the skill of the painter, number of layers, thickness of each layer and the colour selected. Lighter colours may have lower opacity.
This depends on the motorcycle model and which parts are being painted. For fairings only, typical models such as XMAX, Raiders and Mlcg may require approximately 2–3 cans of 400ml paint. The actual amount will depend on the painter's skill and wastage.
We recommend that you do not use Samurai together with other brands because Samurai's paint adhesion is stronger compared with other brands. If Samurai is applied over another brand's paint, there is a possibility that it may affect the underlying paint and cause what is known as biting.
Yes. Samurai can be used on materials such as fiber glass. Sand the surface, use 2K04 Surfaces primer, apply the Samurai colour and finish with 2K01 top clear coat for best results.
Yes. Samurai can be used on chromed items. Apply 2KPP plastic primer to the chrome-finished item, dry it under hot sun for 30–60 minutes, then sand to P320 before spray painting.
Samurai formulation is specifically designed for motorcycles, so we do not recommend it for surfaces such as wooden furniture.
If spraying on wood, the wood must first be processed with wood putty or filler, followed by the regular preparation and painting procedure.
